What certifications are required for exporting toys to the EU?

Follow the Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC and apply the CE marking. The core tests are EN 71-1 (physical and mechanical), EN 71-2 (flammability), and EN 71-3 (migration of 19 elements); for products with electronic components, add EN 62115, and if chemicals are included, an additional assessment is required. In addition, the phthalate restrictions under REACH Annex XVII, CE technical documentation, the DoC, and age warning markings must also be met.

Age grouping is the decisive variable: products labeled for under 3 years must pass the small parts test, while those labeled for over 3 years can be exempt from small parts but require a warning statement. If the grouping is written incorrectly, the entire report becomes invalid.
