SASO is the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (the competent authority), and SABER is the electronic certification platform it launched. Since 2019, the original SASO certification has been fully migrated to the SABER platform for processing, so what is now called "applying for Saudi certification" is actually "applying for PC and SC certificates on SABER." SASO governs standards and regulations, while SABER governs the certification issuance process.
The old version of the SASO CoC certificate has ceased to be issued. If a supplier still provides a SASO certificate from before 2019, it is necessary to confirm whether it has been replaced by the SABER system.
