Do electronic products exported to Russia require EAC certification? I've heard it's very troublesome—how long does it take and how much does it cost?

Published in English.

The EAC certification (the unified certification of the Eurasian Economic Union, mandatory for exports to Russia, Kazakhstan, and three other countries) has a timeline and cost that depend on the product category and certification mode. Ordinary electronic products are handled under TR CU 004/2011 (Low Voltage) and 020/2011 (Electromagnetic Compatibility), with a reference timeline of 20–60 working days and a reference cost range of 8,000–40,000 yuan. Technical documents, test reports (issued by accredited laboratories), and production audits (required for some modes) need to be provided. Certificates are issued by authorized certification bodies within the union, and the Shuwang Testing and Certification Platform can assist with preliminary document review and liaison with the bodies.

EAC certification is divided into two types: Certificate and Declaration. The former requires a factory audit, while the latter only requires document assessment. Choosing the wrong mode will lead to customs clearance obstruction. It is recommended to first confirm the list of technical regulations corresponding to the product, and then match the certification mode. The timeline is affected by the body's scheduling and may be extended during peak seasons. Reference: https://www.shuwangtc.com
