At least three categories: ① UN38.3 transport testing (8 tests, mandatory; without it, freight forwarders will directly refuse the shipment); ② destination market safety certification (EU IEC 62133 / EN 62133, US UL 1642 / UL 2054 / UL 1973, China GB 31241); ③ destination market complete-product compliance (EU CE including Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542; US FCC, exempt if no wireless function). In addition, MSDS and air/sea transport identification documents are required.
UN38.3 only proves transport safety, not product use safety—these are two different things. Many companies submit UN38.3 reports to customers as "battery certification" and are then asked to additionally provide IEC 62133.
These notes come from project records; the answer for a specific product still depends on its construction.

Service boundary: Shuwang Certification Platform is an export certification solution provider. It does not perform testing and is not a certification body. Testing described on this page is carried out by partner laboratories accredited to CNAS/CMA or ISO/IEC 17025; certificates are issued by EU Notified Bodies or by the authorised bodies of the destination country. Lead times and cost ranges are public industry references and depend on engineer assessment and body scheduling.
